1) Eggs in Jail



Thickly sliced bread (brioche bread works a treat)


  • Butter the bread slices, both sides.
  • Cut a hole in the middle of the bread that can accommodate a cracked egg, about 10cm.
  • In a greased frying pan, which is already hot and sizzling, place the bread.
  • Put another knob of butter in the hole in the middle of the bread, and then crack 1 egg into the hole.
  • Cook, until the bread, is golden on the bottom, and then CAREFULLY, using a wide spatula, flip egg/bread combo and brown the other side of the bread.

2) Dutch Oven Bacon Cheese Pull Aparts



Dinner Rolls, thawed but still cold
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
8 pieces cooked bacon, broken into small pieces


  1. Cut each roll in half.
  2. Pour butter into a 12-inch Dutch oven.
  3. Roll cut rolls in butter until coated and arrange in Dutch oven.
  4. Sprinkle with cheese and bacon.
  5. Cover with lid and let rise until double.
  6. Bake at 350°F 20-25 minutes.

3) Eggs on Potato Chips



  • Potato chips (plain flavored – make sure they are fresh and crunchy, straight from a newly opened packet)
  • 4 Eggs
  • Ghee (not common in camping kitchens, so ½ Tablespoon Butter ½ Tablespoon Vegetable Oil)
  • Crushed ginger (use from a jar)
  • 1 onion chopped
  • Chili


1) Cook up the chopped onion, ginger (and chili if using) in your hot frying pan/skillet on a medium heat.When the onion is slightly brown, you can add chopped coriander if you have at this point.
2)Then place about 4 handfuls of crumbled potato chips into the frying pan, and toss together.
3) Even out the chips across the pan, and create indentations where you will crack the eggs into. Don’t worry if they are not perfect hollows for the eggs. You just want an indent where the egg will sit without running all over the place.
4) Add 1 tablespoon of water down the inside of the pan (so not over the top of the food) and place the lid on. This allows the steaming to begin.Turn your pan down low.
5) You cook the eggs until the whites are set. This might take about 6 minutes or so. You will need to check periodically that the eggs are set the way you like eggs!
6) Once cooked, either eat from the pan or scoop cooked egg, with plenty of crunchy potato chips onto a plate.
7) Season with salt/pepper.

4) Potato Sausage Foil Packets



  • 1 package (14 ounces) smoked turkey kielbasa, sliced
  • 2 large potatoes, cut into wedges
  • 1 each medium green, sweet red and yellow peppers, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 4 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


  1. Divide the kielbasa, potatoes, peppers and onion among four double thicknesses of heavy-duty foil (about 18 in. x 12 in.). Drizzle with lemon juice and oil; sprinkle with garlic powder, pepper and salt.
  2. Fold foil around kielbasa mixture and seal tightly. Grill, covered, over medium heat for 30-35 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Open foil carefully to allow steam to escape. Yield: 4 servings.

5) Banana & Nutella Sushi



  • Tortilla/Flat bread – preferably a wholewheat
  • Nutella (or Peanut Butter)
  • Banana


1) Lightly spread Nutella on the tortilla.
2) Place a peeled banana at the side of the tortilla and roll it up within the tortilla.
3) Slice the rolled banana tortilla, into 1/2 in slices.

6) Dutch Oven Bacon Wrapped Cinnamon Rolls



  • 5 Strips Bacon (thick cut works best)
  • 1 Tube Refrigerator Cinnamon Roll Dough with Icing
  • Maple Syrup (optional)


  1. Heat pan and briefly fry bacon strips for 2 – 3 minutes, making sure the bacon is slightly cooked, but still soft.
  2. Remove from pan and pat with paper towel to remove excess grease.
  3. Unroll each individual cinnamon roll. Place bacon on strip of cinnamon roll dough and re-roll the dough back into the cinnamon roll shape.
  4. Spray Dutch Oven with non-stick spray and place all five cinnamon rolls inside.
  5. Place Dutch Oven on the camp fire. Make sure about 10 coals are on the bottom of the Dutch Oven and about 16 are on the top to help it reach a temperature of about 350 degrees.
  6. Cook for 25 minutes or until cinnamon rolls are cooked through. Remove Dutch Oven from fire.
  7. Drizzle cinnamon rolls with icing and maple syrup (optional).
