COWBOY STEW
Feeds: 4

6-8 good quality sausages
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 chilli, finely chopped
1 can mixed beans in water, drained
1 can tomatoes
1 can baked beans
Salt & Pepper

Fry the sausages until well coloured.
Add the onions and sweat down until softened.
Tip in the chilli & garlic and fry for a couple more minutes.
Finally tip in the three cans, bring to a boil then cover and let simmer for 10-15 minutes or until the sauce has thickened and the sausages have cooked through.
To stretch it to feed more, serve with rice, pasta or crusty bread.

Basic Version
Substitute canned hotdogs for the sausages, and dried chilli flakes for the fresh chilli.

Until next time, happy camping!

  • We do this but minus the chopped tomatoes and extra beans and plus bbq sauce, sweetcorn and any veg we have on hand. Cook a bit of rice with it! Great with cheese on too. Really good for using up any leftovers! All you need are a couple of sausages and a tin of baked beans to feed two people!

  • Where I’m from we call this beans and franks or beanie weenie……they actually sell it at the store under those names pre made in a can or tin as you say……but I bet your version is much more delicious 😋

  • Just my 2 pennies worth… put ALL the sausages in, they get smaller as they cook or you could chop them all up first, by the looks of it you have plenty of room left in that pot!, or add Half the baked beans instead?
Just a thought! Great vid as well…. Thanks…
