As you look around the map to consider possible destinations for your next RV trip, don’t limit yourself to just the locations within the boundaries of the United States. Banff is found in Alberta, just a short drive west from Calgary. If that sounds like a long way to travel for an RV vacation, just take a look at a few pictures from the region and you will quickly change your mind. Banff is part of what is called the Canadian Rockies, and it is easily among the most incredible places to visit in all of North America – if not the world. There are RV parks through the Banff area that you can pick from, and the weather in the summer months is typically perfect for long days out exploring the terrain that makes this place so famous.

Can’t Miss Sights

It might be easiest to think of Banff as Canada’s version of Yellowstone National Park in the U.S. It’s not that the parks are similar in terms of scenery, because they are wildly different. However, just like Yellowstone in the U.S., Banff was Canada’s first National Park, and it remains a source of pride for the entire country.

One of the sights on top of the list to see in Banff National Park is Lake Louise. In fact, even if you don’t know it, there is a good chance that you have already seen pictures of Lake Louise at some point in your life. It is among the most-photographed lakes in the world, for obvious reasons. This glacial lake is home to the stunning Chateau Lake Louise Hotel, and the world-famous Lake Louise Ski Resort is nearby. Thanks to the glacial melt that feeds the lake, the water in Lake Louise is an incredible shade of blue that needs to be seen in person to be appreciated.

A Few Different Paths

Assuming you are traveling from the United States, there are a few different paths you can take to reach Banff National Park. Most people will want to cross the border in either Montana or Idaho, depending on the origin of your trip. However, since Banff is located right along Highway One in Canada, you can travel to this destination from any direction across the country. Of course, prior to departing, make sure you have all of the necessary paperwork in place to make a successfully crossing of the border both entering Canada and returning home.

There is another comparison to Yellowstone that is worth mentioning – popularity. Banff National Park is among the most-popular vacation spots in all of Canada, and the RV parks will book up quickly early in the season. This is a trip that you will need to plan ahead – but it will be well worth your effort when you arrive to see the unforgettable scenery that the entire region has to offer.
