Boating and Fishing

Boating is the primary activity in Reno-Lake Tahoe in the summers. It is also home to one of the prestigious wooden boat shows in the country, known as the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance, which is held in August every year.


Some of the major ski areas in Tahoe are:

  • Squaw Valley is the second largest skiing area, popular for hosting the 1960 Winter Olympics;
  • Diamond Peak is a small ski area in Incline Village, Nevada;
  • Alpine Meadows is a medium-sized skiing area on the north shore, a few miles away from the Squaw Valley;

Hiking and Biking

There are numerous hiking and mountain biking trails around the lake. It ranges widely in length, difficulty and popularity.
